Rippa Rugby- Victory at Carisbrook
Over the past week and a half, 10 students trained for the Otago Rippa Rugby Tournament. It took place on Friday the 7th August at Carisbrook. There were 240 children overall at the tournament competing in three different grades, Year 3/4, Year 5/6 and Year 7/8.
Tahuna played five games. In our pool we played against Mount Aspiring College, Balclutha Primary and St Marys from Mosgiel. All the games were very close but we managed to come out with two wins and a draw. We qualified first in our pool and were drawn to play Balmacewen in our semi final. Balmacewen were no match for our skill and we thrashed them in a one sided encounter.
The grand final was looming and we were drawn to play Balclutha again, The final score was 7-5 and it was a hard fought game. There were quite a few falls and heaps of very good rips and tries!
Thanks especially to Mr Scoles, the teachers for supporting us and all the parents that cheered us on!
